A Vamo setup code works once and lasts ten minutes. If your AI tool says the code is not valid, that code is finished. Copy a fresh line from the Pick your tool section and paste it again.
What you are seeing
You pasted the setup line into your AI tool and the setup did not finish. You may see one of these:
- Your tool says the setup code is no longer valid. Some tools repeat Vamo's words: "This setup code is not valid. It may have expired or already been used."
- That section in Vamo says: "That setup code expired."
- Your tool says the line you gave it is not a setup code.
- Your tool says to run the setup on a computer of your own, not in its sandbox.
What it means
Vamo gives the same answer for every finished code. There are four possible reasons:
- It expired. More than ten minutes passed between copying the line and your tool using it.
- It was already used. A code connects one tool, once. A second paste of the same line fails.
- A newer line replaced it. Making a new line cancels your previous one. Only the newest line works.
- The line changed on the way. Part of it was cut off, or extra characters were added when it was pasted. If your tool says the line is not a setup code, nothing was sent and the code is still good.
A chat tool that starts from an empty sandbox each session has nowhere to keep the key. The setup line is for a tool on your own computer. Pick another way to connect for a hosted chat tool.
Try this
- Check whether it worked. Open Set up > API keys. A new key named for your tool means the code did its job. Read check that Vamo is connected instead.
- Get a fresh line. Open Set up by hand and pick your tool on the Pick your tool section. Copy the new line.
- Paste it right away. Paste the whole line, unchanged. If the tool said the line was not a setup code, copy the same line again. Connecting two tools? Finish one before making a line for the next.
- Clear a full key list. If that section says the account has as many keys as it allows, remove one you no longer use. Connected tools and keys shows where.
Do not paste an API key into the chat as a shortcut. The setup line exists so that no key is typed or shown.
If your tool gave no clear message, ask it:
What exact message did you get when you ran the Vamo setup line? Do not show any key.
A setup code is one of several ways to connect. Sign-in or API key explains the others. If the setup finished but Vamo still fails, read Vamo will not connect.
