Article summary
- Vamo fails to connect to an AI tool for one of four reasons. The address is wrong, the API key is wrong or revoked, a sign-in was never finished, or the network blocks Vamo.
- An "unauthorized" message from Vamo means the tool sent no API key or sign-in, or the key is wrong or revoked.
- The Pick your tool section at Set up > Get started > Set up by hand in the Vamo app writes the current address, command or setup line for each AI tool.
- A Vamo API key is shown once, so a lost or revoked key is replaced by creating a new one at Set up > API keys.
- A tool connected to Vamo by sign-in appears under Connected tools at Set up > API keys once approved.
Vamo shows in your AI tool but will not connect for one of four reasons. The address is wrong, the key is wrong or revoked, a sign-in was never finished, or your network blocks Vamo. The message your tool shows tells you which one.
What you are seeing
Vamo is in your tool's list, but it shows as failed or disconnected. You may see one of these:
- The tool rejects the Vamo address when you add it.
- The tool says "unauthorized" when it calls Vamo.
- The tool says it cannot reach Vamo, or the connection times out.
What it means
The address is rejected. The address was typed or copied with a mistake.
Unauthorized. Vamo got the request but could not tell who sent it. The tool sent no key, or the key is wrong or revoked. With sign-in, it can mean the sign-in was never finished.
Cannot reach Vamo, or a timeout. The request never arrived. Something between the tool and mcp.vamotalent.ai is blocking it. A company network or a workspace policy can do this.
Try this
- Copy the address again. Open Set up by hand and pick your tool on the Pick your tool section. It writes the current address, command or setup line.
- Check the key. Open Set up > API keys. You see your own keys. If the key is not listed, it was revoked or belongs to a colleague. A key is shown once, so create a new one and connect with it.
- Finish the sign-in. Connect again and approve the Vamo page your tool opens. The tool then appears under Connected tools on the same page. If that page refuses you, read the sign-in fails or your plan is not included.
- Try another network. If your tool runs on your own machine, connect from elsewhere. If Vamo connects there, your network is blocking it. Send your admin the hosts to allow.
Not sure which route your tool uses? Read sign-in or API key. To see everything that has access, read connected tools and keys.
If the message is unclear, ask your assistant:
What exact message did you get when you tried to reach Vamo?
Still stuck
Let your assistant check its own connection. It reports what failed and what to do next.
FAQs
Why does my AI tool say unauthorized when it calls Vamo?
Vamo answers "unauthorized" when the tool sends no API key, or sends one that is wrong or revoked. Create a new key at Set up > API keys in the Vamo app and connect the tool again with it.
Why does my AI tool reject the Vamo address?
The address was most likely typed or copied with a mistake. Open Set up > Get started in the Vamo app and pick your tool on the Pick your tool section. Copy what it writes.
Why does my AI tool say it cannot reach Vamo?
The tool cannot get a message through to Vamo from where it runs. A company network or a workspace policy can block the Vamo address. An admin can allow it.
