Article summary
- The first task to try after connecting Vamo is one plain-language request to find engineers.
- A good answer from a Vamo search names people, says what each has built and says why each fits your ask.
- A Vamo search needs no special syntax: write the request the way you would say it to a colleague.
- After a first Vamo search you can narrow the results, ask for similar developers or ask for email addresses.
Once Vamo is connected, ask your AI tool to find engineers in one plain sentence. Paste the prompt below with your own company name in it. A good answer names people, says what each has built and says why each fits.
The prompt to paste
Start a new conversation in your AI tool. Paste this, and replace the placeholder with a company you know well.
Use Vamo to find the strongest engineers at <company>. For each person, tell me who they are, what they have built and why they stand out.
Pick a company whose engineers you already know something about. You can then judge the answer against what you know.
You do not need special syntax. Write the request the way you would say it to a colleague.
What a good answer looks like
A good answer is about people. It has three parts for each person.
- Who they are. A name and where they work or what they do.
- What they have built. Projects on GitHub that you can look at yourself.
- Why they fit. One or two sentences that tie their work back to what you asked for.
The answer should read like a briefing from a sourcer. It should not walk you through how the search was run.
If nobody fits, your assistant should say so in a line and suggest another angle.
How it works
Your assistant reads your sentence and turns it into a Vamo search. Vamo finds engineers by what they have built on GitHub. Your assistant reads what comes back and writes the answer in its own words.
Some steps only a person can take, such as connecting GitHub. For those, your assistant gives you a link to open.
What to try next
Stay in the same conversation and build on the first answer. Each of these works as a follow-up.
- Narrow it. Ask for only the people in one location, or only those who work in one language.
- Go deeper on one person. Ask for a short summary of someone on the list and their main projects.
- Find more like the best one. Name the person you liked most and ask for similar developers.
- Change the starting point. Ask about a technology or a role in place of a company.
- Get in touch. Ask for email addresses for the people you want to contact.
For more ways to start a search, see what to ask your agent.
If the answer is not what you expected
Three things account for most first searches that go wrong.
- Your assistant answers from its own knowledge and never uses Vamo. See your assistant is not using Vamo.
- Your assistant says it cannot reach Vamo. Start with check Vamo is connected.
- The search runs and finds nobody. See no one was found.
If Vamo is not connected yet, the Set up > Get started has the current steps for your tool.
