Merge
Accepting a finished change into the official version of the code. Merged work is work the team accepted.
What it tells you about a developer
A high merge rate on someone's own proposed changes means their work consistently passes peer review without heavy rework.
When a proposed change is approved, it gets merged, and the branch's work becomes part of the main branch. Merge history is therefore a record of peer-validated output, which is a smaller and more meaningful number than raw attempts.
